Sparta
General
???? – c. 395 BC

Background
Little is known about Lysander. Son of Aristokritos and a member of clan Heraclid, some sources say he was a helot who fought his way to power (though that is very unlikely). Said to be a fierce and driven leader, as much to be expected from Spartans, after the war Sparta’s unfavored policies hurt him greatly and was eventually killed by Theban forces in 395 BC, early days of the Corinthian Wars.

Peloponnesian War Contribution
Lysander played a major part in the latter days of the True Peloponnesian War. Having been the general who successfully persuaded Persian Prince Cyrus the Younger to aid the Peloponnesian League just before the Ionian Wars, Lysander led the league to victory in the final Battle of Aegospotami in 405 BC.
